Dear people who think Americans can’t make good television,
Thank you for playing. Everyone can go home now.
Love,
Me
Do I even need to point out that CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was the first to take a police procedural drama and shoot it like a feature film, with all the fancy cameras and slick cinematography and light tables in the lab and etcetera? Sherlock in all its shiny expensive well-lit loveliness would look extremely different (i.e. low budget) without that little facet of American television.
I love British telly, but may I add Mad Men and Hell On Wheels to the quality American television list. In depth characters and intelligent plots, beautiful, atmospheric design elements and cinematography. They are period pieces that though very different from the BBC’s are no less loveable.
